Commercial Reno – Building 2
Take a couple of 1940 era buildings that have been neglected over the years and have a vision to make both these spaces useful viable business locations. Located in downtown Vernon, one building was empty and the other one a small overcrowded antique store with everything functional not functioning. It was our goal to keep what was valuable, throw out what was not and re-energize these two old tired gals.
The biggest transformation took place in this building. To our surprise and delight, we discovered under the old flooring, beautiful, original hardwood which we were able to revive. Some of the walls were falling apart exposing the original brickwork. Poor insulation did not allow us to expose the brick so in trying to keep the walls original where possible, we came up with the idea to cover some of the damaged walls with a corrugated metal. The final look, modern meets old. All interior doors replaced, lighting changed, 3 other rooms with revived original hardwood, kitchen and bathroom gutted replacing all cabinets and in the bathroom a full shower and new sink and toilet. Hardy vinyl planking laid down where hardwood didn’t exist. An old 1940 building had now come into its own, into the new millennium, another viable place to proudly do business.
